Well, the sock knitting funk is over. I finished another pair. This design is my own. I wanted something that would break up the colors and I think this pattern does it. I wanted something that would pull in, so I started tinkering with the v-shaped increases and decreases similar to those that I charted in excel. I wasn't happy with those and this yarn. I tried ribbing, but didn't really like that either. Then I tried having garter stitch columns instead of purl columns. Now, that's better. But what can I do to break up the knit columns. I messed around with some slipped stitches and got what's on the left. It's busy looking, but I like it. I like the sections where the yellow ends up on top of the blues and reds.

Up next, I'm working on a plain stockinette sock with some Vesper yarn. Why am I working on plain socks? I have a very good reason. I'm trying to read The Fiery Cross while I knit. This is the 5th book in the Outlander series by Diana Gabaldon. I've read the first four, but got sidetracked when life got busy with kids. Now, I can catch up. These are my kind of books at around 1500 pages in a paperback. I'm a fast reader and like books that take a while to read.

The pattern looks great with the yarn - not busy at all. What's the Outlander series about - never heard of it, but from the brief description on Amazon, it looks interesting.
